An engaging, if placid, debut from acclaimed shorts director Bavo Defurne. Pim (Jelle Florizoone) is a 15-year-old boy living in a dull Belgian coastal town with his fading beauty queen mum. He's in love with Gino (Mathias Vergels) – the dashing older boy next door. Gino's a little in love with Pim, too, but wants to keep their relationship a secret, especially from his younger sister, who's dappy over Pim. Defurne makes a point of shunning social realism and presents lonely, horny Pim's story through a fog of polished-to-a-glow stylishness. North Sea Texas looks beautiful, is acted brilliantly, but it's hard to get a hold on when Pim's drifting by in a dream world.

Princess Princess Drama

In all-boys school with a tradition of Princesses (boys chosen to attend school functions dressed up as girls to alleviate the tension between the students), Yutaka Mikoto, Shihoudani Yuujirou and Kouno Tooru are this year's chosen Princess team. Dissatisfied with the half-hearted efforts of the current Princesses, Hanazono Otoya creates his own team of Dark Princesses to rival for the students' attention.

Go! Go! G-Boys

Hong and Shin have had a special friendship since childhood. As adults they have drifted only in that Hong holds a menial job and likes girls while Shin is a rock star and likes boys. Hong has now discovered that his self absorbed girlfriend has run up a hefty amount of debt on his credit cards and all the world is after him. In order to raise the money to pay everyone off he enters the G-Boys Beauty Contest. Of course the only problem is that all the entrants have to be gay.

Ai no Kotodama - Words of devotion

Based on Konno Keiko's popular yaoi manga series, Ai no Kotodama, a.k.a. Words of Devotion, is a sensitive bishonen romance that avoids the cliches of the genre with a touching and realistic story. Directed by Kaneda Takashi, the film stars Tokuyama Hidenori from Kamen Rider Kabuto and Saito Yasuka from GoGo Sentai Boukenger and Prince of Tennis Musical.

Synopsis -:

Tachibana is the son of a wealthy family, though that doesn't necessarily mean he does well in life. In fact, he fails at every relationship for "trying too hard." Perhaps it was due to a kidnapping he experienced as a child, which left him traumatized and with a sickly aversion to sweets (he vomits whenever he eats pastries). This makes perfect sense when he decides to open up a cake shop, which he says is to attract female customers. Of course, he then goes on to hire a gay patissier (Ono) who fears women and therefore crushing his dream of hiring beautiful lady employees and he is stuck with hiring only men, all of whom unfailingly falls for Ono whether gay or straight, creating lots of problem for him and his shop due to their jealous infighting.

First gay kiss in Days of our lives

NBC's daytime soap Days of Our Lives aired the first same-sex kiss in the show's 46 year history 2 months back when the character of Will Horton kisses a guy he meets at a party. Will, played by Chandler Massey, has been struggling with his sexuality for several months now and not yet admitted to anyone - including himself - that he is gay. But after drinking a few beers and spending the evening with a group of gay guys he met thru his gay friend Sonny (Freedie Smith), Will finds himself attracted  to a guy (Jesse Kristofferson) who's been flirting with him and decides to make a move.

Watching out for him are Fiona and Doc who prove that family isn't always who 
you're born to but who's got your back.

This 14 minute Irish short film is all about friendship. Written and directed by Mark Cogan, Heart is beautiful and moving. Damien wanted to confess his love for his "ex-boyfriend" before it's too late. (He is getting married) He does not have enough courage to do it, so he takes along his friends for support. This short is magnificent from beginning to the end, It just grabs you and drags you along. It would have been seriously depressing if not for the humour added at exactly the right places. I love the scene where Doc stood up for Damien - "Noboby calls my friend a faggot except me". It was quite a heart warming scene. Heck, who needs family if you have friends like Fiona and Doc.....

"Relationships - funny things aren't they, given some folk yearn for them, whilst others can do without them, preferring instead the thrill of the chase. Take Luc for example, a Parisian hunk who delights in laptop hookups, until he finds himself moving in with Sébastien, a young man only too well aware of his 'special relationship' with LA based Jon; a sauna buddy who heads to Paris every year for some sexual sweat with his - French horn! Only this time around something is different; for surely the hunter hasn't fallen prey to love? 

Written, directed and starring Jason Bushman of Hard Pill fame, this refreshingly honest examination of gay relationships details the highs and lows of playing the field. In doing so, neither the cast, nor the narrative, shy away from the reality of the situation, as the 'to be or not to be monogamous' debate is played to the full, complete with scenes of penile nudity that make this the most sexually overt short featured on Peccadillo Pictures critically acclaimed 'Boys on Film' debut compilation.

Yet this is also a work laced with many a tender moment, notably the initial sequences between Luc / Eric Debets and Sébastien / Jonathan Stringat, together with certain scenes between Luc and 'the other woman' in his life, as finely played by Bushman himself. Yes the hunt for sex remains the dominant theme, as Luc relentlessly cruises his way to his next climatic encounter. But it's well-shot throughout, with Bushman displaying a fine talent in all areas, inparticular in showcasing the complex nature of human relationships in such an entertaining way. Need more be said?"

Short film that explores 2 themes - Monogamy vs Open relationship and whether long time friendship will change if you sleep together. Serene Hunter is short at 13 minutes. It is sexy and explicit. Of course, the French setting adds a lot of charm to it. Do watch it.

George comes out to his adopted sister

Review from the Gay Celluloid - 
"Some films take you by surprise, only to fail when it comes to realizing their full potential and this sadly, is one such case. Not that you would know that from the start, when home from "extended freshman leave," David is reunited with his best friends George and Greg; aka the war boys of the title. Up to their old tricks in seemingly no time at all, they are soon to be found stealing, that is when not out alerting the authorities to illegal immigrants crossing the US / Mexican border, all for the fun of it. Only it is affairs of the heart that are destined to transverse boundaries, when David and George become more than just close friends in the middle of the night. Yet with all three out to make a quick buck courtesy of stealing one of David's father's contraband laden trucks, could it be that they have crossed the line for one last time? 

Adapted by Naomi Wallace with the co-writing hand of Bruce McLeod from her original stage play, here we find first time director Ron Daniels embark on an ambitious cinematic journey, given the degree of themes raised within its celluloid time frame. Yet with issues as wide ranging as adoption, immigration and sexuality, let alone the alarming, if telegraphed from the onset side of the story that is, well that would reveal all, something had to give and that is the emotional impact of the feature itself. Had it been played differently, with signs of gay affection breaking into acts of outright love earlier on, then the melodramatic finale would have undoubtedly resonated with more intensity. Only by compressing "everything openly gay" into the thirty-four minute closing act, it fails to make the heartbreaking grade, even if the narrative is refreshingly different to the standard gay genre. 


Still and to Daniels' credit, both Greg's hetero and the boy's homo relationships are handled with the same degree of sexual openness, whilst David's father's reaction to his son's burgeoning sexuality is probably unique in gay cinema. As too it's well performed, with the camaraderie of its youthful players vividly realistic, leaving Peter Gallagher as the Jekyll and Hyde character of the piece; loving his son one moment, threatening him the next. Yet and in spite of all of its positives, it falls at the last hurdle, all of which adds up to a crying shame, as there was some serious potential here for a gay classic in the making, given the relatively few scenes that take place between the boys and indeed of George coming out to his adopted sister are frankly - beautifully rendered."

The stories that unfold about each of these boys are what make the film gel. Grigorio is a virgin and is infatuated with Marta : the interaction between these two needy people - the virgin Grigorio and Marta who is afraid of becoming involved with someone younger than she is - speaks mountains about relationships versus infatuation and physical needs. David and George have a past history of acting out a physical attraction and this comes forth in a set of scenes that address young male sexual identity challenges in some of the most beautifully realized and subtle scenes on film. David and Slater have father/son relationship problems that come to a crisis with David's attraction to George: the surprise is how sensitively this conflict is worked out.  

Given these character developments and the many critical topics the film addresses (prejudice against illegals, taking advantage of the built in crime of the border towns, sexual identity challenges, etc) the ending of the film is intensely dramatic and leaves the audience with a profound message. An excellent young cast and a fine director make this a powerful little film that should not be missed.

Sex, Party & Lies 2009 - Spain

A synopsis on Mentiras Y Gordas from Love Film - 

"Sex, Party & Lies" is about a group of young people who are discovering life and looking for the solution to their problems in their relationship. These night owls live out the wild delirium of nightlife, meeting and mingling on beaches, in clubs, bars, outdoor cafes and chill outs, surrounded by music. But at dawn, with the sunrise comes a letdown, as reality and feelings appear. Unkept promises, broken dreams, loneliness. Three days during the hot early summer in Alicante with their three frenzied nights, where Paz, Carola, Carlos, Sonia, Nico, Toni, Marinar and Leo will discover that their lives cannot continue like this.


A drama about sex of all kinds, drugs and nightlife among teens in Spain. There's plenty of breasts and butts around to distract viewers from looking for a plot. This is one of those movies where you asked yourself should I keep watching or not.......The only redeeming thing about this film is the emotionally powerful ending and it takes a death to achieve that.....

Protect me from what I want review from Gay Celluloid - 

"Fans of acting twin Elliott Tittensor could be forgiven for thinking that all their wet dreams have come true, when in this British short Elliott gets down to some manly hanky-panky with the object of his cinematic desire. 


For here Tittensor plays Daz; a gay scally on the look out for some man-on-man action, only to find himself attracted to Saleem instead, namely a young Muslim hardly out to himself, let alone open to the thought of rampant gay sex. Exiting the scene faster than a discarded condom, it isn’t long before the two meet again. Only as a council bed-sit sees Daz instruct virginal Saleem in the art of man sex, could it be that Saleem has a lesson or two to teach Daz? 


Written and directed by Dominic Leclerc, this touching short arrives like a cinematic shot of Channel 4's Shameless, given Elliott Tittensor here effortlessly reprises his working class credentials, along the way casting his boxers to the floor in true Chatsworth fashion. And yet it is Naveed Choudhry who emotionally reaches out to you, his nervous glances aptly conveying the mindset of a young man too afraid to even give his name, forever living in fear of the repercussions the true nature of his sexuality would have, if it became known to his family. 


For this is more than just a boys first time story, as Leclerc narratively touches upon the issue of what it means to be gay and Muslim in today's society, along the way lacing his script with feelings of disgust and shame. Only as this well-executed work on loneliness and if anything, a longing for friendship and perhaps something more sets out to show, being gay and Muslim is not an oxymoron. Need more be said?"


This 2009 short film is well shot and the characters well thought out. Both the actors did a good job especially Naveed Choudhry and the ending leaves me wanting more. It's a good way to spend 14 minutes.
